About Us
Founded by Joy Horner and aided by Evony Lynch in 2022, this collective took shape after a gathering of like-minded birth workers in Cornwall.
A transformative weekend that challenged the current medicalised birthing system and highlighted how we can do much better in the service of birthing families.
Women and Birthing people are voting with their feet, often choosing to not engage with maternity care in pregnancy or birth. And they don't want to travel this journey alone, so work with doulas or Birthkeepers.
Doulas and Birthkeepers are often happy to step into this role, but some feel their own training left them with large gaps in their knowledge and skills base leaving them uncomfortable in supporting birth "outside of guidelines."
Joy has over 40 years midwifery, nursing and Birthkeeping wisdom and has worked in a variety of NHS, independent and private midwifery settings. She beneffitted from inspirational teachers including Michael Odent, Ina May Gaskin, Mary Cronk, Gail Tully and Jane Hardwicke-Collings.

Together we re-member the ancestral knowledge of tending to and caring for families, and in doing so we become the birth wisdom-keepers of the future.
